Transitional Living Program

Street Stories: Meet Tyler

The Transitional Living Program (TLP) is one of YES' newest programs. TLP provides services to runaway and homeless youth 16 to 21 (must be 20 when entering the 18 month program) years old who may not otherwise be able to access services. It is designed to provide an environment in which youth will be able to develop the ability to function independently in the community. The program offers:

  • Supervised housing
  • Life skills training
  • Mental health counseling
  • Medical screening and referral
  • Case management.

The participants can be in the program for up to 18 months. While in the program, participants:

  • Perform a minimum of 10 hours of community service each month
  • Attend a minimum of 20 hours of work and school each week
  • Pay for their room and board at the start of the second month in the program

The rent amount owed will be gradually increased monthly until 100% of the rent is paid by graduation from the program. Residents will receive 80% of this amount back upon leaving the program.
